Friday – Santa Fe 

 

1:00pm-1:30pm – Welcome

Meredith Davidson, curator of 19th & 20th Century Southwest Collections, New Mexico History Museum and the Palace of the Governors

 

1:30pm-2:30pm  - Castaneda Hotel Renovation in Las Vegas NM is Underway

Allan Affeldt – owner of the Castaneda, the Plaza Hotel, La Posada in Winslow, AZ, and Matt DiGregory – from the Range Café, Standard Diner and Freighthouse, who will be running food and beverage at the Castaneda and Plaza Hotel, will both speak about the current construction and plans in this exclusive progress report.

 

2:30pm-3:15pm ADDED Deep Inside the Harvey Biz Archive

Dr. Jere Krakow, former Head of Trails for NPS, tells the story of how the Fred Harvey company business archive was rescued in California in the 1980s and what we can learn from it today.

 

3:15pm-4:30pm Harvey Health and Hospitality: How Health Tourism, and my Family’s Own Health, Impacted the Harvey/ATSF Story

Charles Harvey descendant of the original Fred Harvey explores the family history.

La Fonda on the Plaza

A Fred Harvey Foodie Happening

(Please note, registering for the dinner does not secure you a seat at the talks and registering for the talks does not secure you a ticket for the dinner. You must register on both sites if you’d like to attend both aspects of the weekend)

Curator of Spanish Colonial Art and History at the Museum of International Folk Art introduces us to the Fred Harvey Fine Arts Collection held at the Folk Art Museum.

 

1:00pm-2:00pm  La Fonda: Then and Now

In 2017 La Fonda on the Plaza published a book looking into the history of the hotel. Join us for a panel discussion with the contributors, the graphic designer, and Jennifer Kimball, co-owner of La Fonda on the Plaza

Jeff Ogg

Ogg invites us into the world of Fred Harvey retail. The retail manager for Fred Harvey under control of Amfac from 1973-1998, Ogg secured Native American related merchandise for the company..

 

3:00pm-4:00pm My Day with Mary Colter’s Collection, and other tales of the future of the past of Fred Harvey
