This year we will visit three studios in the charming village of Galisteo, followed up with a light lunch at the home of Jerry and Alice Kruse. Jerry and Alice also have an extensive collection of art from their many years living in and visiting New Mexico. The tour, including a buffet lunch and home visit at the Kruse’s, will be $30.

Transportation will be self-drive and we are encouraging carpooling from Santa Fe and from the initial designated parking spot behind the church in the center of Galisteo Village.
Just 10 miles south of Eldorado, the historic adobe village of Galisteo is centered in the magnificent Galisteo basin. This village of some 250 residents boasts of an incredibly diverse artist population. The hallmark of the village is the Iglesia Nuestra Seora de los Remedios church, where the tour group will assemble.
STEPHEN DAVIS
Stephen Davis works in Galisteo and Pecos, TX. He began painting in Spain in 1965. In 1971, he moved to San Francisco, then New York City in 1978. Since 1971 he has persistently taken the elements and language of painting apart and put them together again to find a new structure for his work. Stephen has been awarded three NEA grants, along with two Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation grants, Tiffany, Pollack-Krasner, Joan Mitchell, George Sugarcane and a Guggenheim. His work is in the collections of LA MOCA, San Francisco Museum of Art, UC Berkeley Art Museum, El Paso Museum of Art, Yale Museum of Art and others. stephendavisstudio.com

Woody Gwyn was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1944, and received his arts education from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. For the past forty years, his work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in national and international museums including the Tel Aviv Museum, Tel Aviv, Israel; le Centre Nationale des Arts Plastiques, Paris, France; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Luther W. Brady Art Gallery of George Washington University, Washington, D.C.; and the New Mexico Museum of Art, Santa Fe. He is the recipient of New Mexico’s highest artistic honor — the 2010 New Mexico Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. JUDY TUWALETSTIWA
Judy Tuwaletstiwa has worked during the past 50 years as a visual artist and writer, exploring her concepts through tapestry weaving, paper making, fiber, paint and, for the last six years, glass. Radius published her most recent book, “Glass in 2016.” She writes: ”Art is an act of devotion, having faith that meaning will evolve out of the act of making an image.
