Curator’s Coffee: The Legacy of Uranium Mining on Native American Lands in New Mexico

Professor José Cerrato, will discuss the progress made by his research group in using laboratory and field measurements to understand the risks and remediation of former uranium mines on Navajo and Laguna Pueblo lands.

 

Dr. José M. Cerrato is Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, & Environmental Engineering at UNM. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Honduras, and M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech. He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award, which is funding this important research.
