Jessica Loughlin

Born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1975, Jessica Loughlin is among a generation of Australian artists who studied at the renowned glass workshop of the Canberra School of Art, founded by the influential artist and educator Klaus Moje. Working with kiln-formed glass and glass powders, Loughlin references the landscape in her vessels and wall sculptures, primarily through the presence of the horizon line. In 2004 and 2007 Jessica Loughlin was awarded the Tom Malone Prize from the Art Gallery of Western Australia, and in 2001 she won the prestigious Outstanding New Artist in Glass award from UrbanGlass. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Corning Museum of Glass, New York; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; National Gallery of Australia; National Glass Collection, Wagga Wagga; Art Gallery of Western Australia; and Glasmuseet Ebeltoft, Denmark.
