Mountain Man Rendezvous

A free, five-day event for the whole family. The Mountain Man Rendezvous transforms the Palace of the Governors Courtyard into an 1830s setting, where modern-day Mountain Men (and Women!) rendezvous, exhibit and sell their wares. At 2 pm Sunday, Aug. 9, hear noted Western author Johnny D. Boggs on the pop-culture history of the mountain man. Times vary for each day; click on "more information" for details.

Learn about the rich history of hornos and their place in the Northern New Mexico culture on Saturday, July 20 – free and open to the public. Even better - learn how to build your own horno in a three-part workshop beginning July 20 and 21 and concluding on August 10th. Santa Fe Indian Market® is introducing a Native Literary Arts event, in partnership with the New Mexico Museum of Art and the Shadow Catchers Institute. The event will feature readings and book signing by acclaimed poet Simon Ortiz (Acoma) and some of the country's most exciting emerging Native writers including poet Orlando White (Navajo), poet Sherwin Bitsui (Navajo), poet dg nanouk okpik (Inuit) and poet and fiction writer Erika T. Wurth (Apache/Chickasaw/Cherokee). The evening will be moderated by fiction writer Evelina Zuni Lucero (Isleta/San Juan Pueblo).
