In the 10th concert in the Pimentel Music Series, Los Tres Reyes will perform at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) on Saturday, March 3 at 7 pm in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre. Tickets are $22, $27, and $37, with a $2 discount for seniors, children 12 and younger, and NHCC members, and are available from the NHCC Box Office, at (505) 724-4771, or at www.nhccnm.org. The event is presented in partnership with Pimentel Music.

Los Tres Reyes, founded in 1957 by classically trained guitarists and twin brothers Gilberto and Raul Puente, also includes lead vocalist Bebo Cárdenas. Los Tres Reyes are noted for their contributions to the development of the romantic music genre in Mexico during the 1950s and 1960s, as well as for their guitar virtuosity. Icons of Mexico’s popular music, they have recorded numerous albums that have become international hits and have toured extensively in the United States, Europe, and Latin America. Their performance at the NHCC in 2011 was the first in the popular Pimentel Music Series, featuring master guitarists in a variety of genres.

Opening for Los Tres Reyes is Trío América de Albuquerque, founded in 2015 under the direction of Juan Daniel Salazar. The group, like Los Tres Reyes, strives to preserve Mexico’s “Golden Age” by interpreting songs made famous by popular trios of that time, and also plays an array of other styles.

Following the concert, an after-party at Garduño’s Restaurant, Hotel Albuquerque will feature music by the Chris Cordova Latin Jazz Trio, the Dan Lambert Trio, Mungo Jerry, and others.

The Pimentel Music Series is presented in tribute to the founders of Pimentel & Sons Guitarmakers, the late Lorenzo Pimentel and his wife Josefina, who have provided world-class custom guitars to musicians worldwide for over half a century. The family has a history of handing down its talents from generation to generation, both through music and guitar-making and through giving back to the community. Pimentel & Sons has received numerous awards, including the New Mexico Governor’s Award, and the Pimentel family’s creations and innovations are displayed in New Mexico museums.
