NHCC’s ¡Vamos al Museo! Free Monthly Saturday Morning art-making for all ages

(Albuquerque, New Mexico) – Aspiring artists and those just looking for a fun, social, hands-on opportunity to create art can take advantage of the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s ¡Vamos al Museo! a free monthly morning of art-making for all ages.

Held in the Creative Classroom in the Pete V. Domenici Education Building on the NHCC campus from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of each month, ¡Vamos al Museo! always includes a staff member or artist to lead the art-making workshops. The workshops are also timely, based on a theme. This month, the Feb. 1, ¡Vamos al Museo! was let by artist Lita Sandoval who helped guide the guests during a Valentine-themed workshop. The next ¡Vamos al Museo! workshop is scheduled March 7.

“¡Vamos al Museo! is always free,” said program director Elena Baca. “We encourage a five-dollar donation to cover the cost of the supplies and to support the artists. And, of course, we always need people to pre-register so we have enough materials prepared.”

Children of all ages and families of all sizes are welcome to participate in ¡Vamos al Museo! A visit to NHCC’s Art Museum is included in these workshops.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue these art-making workshops into 2020, our 20th anniversary year at NHCC,” Baca said. “¡Vamos al Museo! is a perfect example of NHCC’s cultural contributes to the community.  A fun, free, family activity that fosters one-on-on personal contact and interaction.”
