Explore the latest online programming from the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), bringing the state’s unique blend of cultures into your home through its museums, historic sites, and cultural institutions.

This week includes three outstanding programs:

In time for summer break, the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum offers a variety of online activities and camps for children that can be accessed at home. Whether they enjoy animals, crafts, or outdoor fun, the Museum has something for young learners. Discover nature, gardening, animals, weaving, cowboys, and more. The kits and camps begin on Saturday, May 29, and continue through July. For more information, including details on registering, visit https://www.nmfarmandranchmuseum.org/museum-offers-summer-activities-for-kids/.

The popular program Happy Arte Hour at the National Hispanic Cultural Center is back, this time in virtual form. This online art making and social gathering event is geared toward adults and takes place at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month, with the next event on June 3. Register here in advance to receive an email with a webpage link to the free event and a list items/art supplies in order to better participate.

Have you read the new blog on the Los Luceros Historic Site website? Written weekly by staff and volunteers, these blog posts explore the cultural and natural history of the historic property and give you a peek at the behind-the-scenes operations that make Los Luceros an impressive cultural institution.

Here are other interesting programs from across the Department:

•   Docents at the New Mexico Museum of Art are offering free virtual tours of the Museum’s current exhibitions. Tours will take place via Zoom and are held at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays. Email chris.nail@state.nm.us to reserve your spot.

•   What do military spy satellites and the children’s television program “Sesame Street” have in common? Find out by watching the latest episode of “Stories from Space” on the New Mexico Museum of Space History Facebook page.

More information related to social media and online resources for each division of DCA, including photos, is available upon request.
