Continuing the Dialogue about Key Issues Facing Libraries Statewide

New Mexico State Library

October 03, 2017

(Santa Fe, NM) -  The future of New Mexico’s libraries is up for discussion among New Mexico librarians as various task forces report back on their findings following up on a statewide conference last year.  Sustainable public funding, alternate funding sources and e-rate/broadband were identified in the 2016 Libraries Transform New Mexico conference as key issues facing libraries statewide.

This month, the dialogue about these key issues will resume during a follow-up convening of the Libraries Transform NM Conference.  Siobhan Reardon, the Executive Director of the Free Library of Philadelphia will discuss her successes with alternative funding and managing a decreasing public budget.

The meeting is being held at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science in Albuquerque on Tuesday, October 17 from 8:00AM-4:00PM.

About 30 attendees will review the reports from the three Libraries Transform New Mexico Task Forces, and discuss strategies to move the reports from study to implementation.
