Amateur photographers participating in the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science (NMMNHS) annual NatureScapes Photo Competition need to submit their entries to the museum by August 31. “Clouds” is the topic for this year’s NatureScapes competition.

“We want to remind all of our competing photographers to turn their focus skyward this year for images of clouds before NatureScapes competition deadline,” said Ayesha Burdett, Bioscience Curator. “With New Mexico’s big sky and legendary sunrises, sunsets and cloud formations, we’re fully expecting this year’s entries to be extraordinary.”

Each year, the NMMNHS sponsors the NatureScapes photo contest encouraging contestants to examine and understand New Mexico’s natural beauty. This year’s theme, “Clouds” invites photographers to explore and re-discover nature in the sky. This year’s winning photographs will be presented at the Museum from October 20, 2018 through January 19, 2019.

This year’s winning NatureScapes entries will be chosen by a panel of local judges and prizes are supported by the NMMNH Foundation. Each year, the Museum hangs 30 photographs; last year’s NatureScapes competition received nearly 100 submissions from photographers across New Mexico. The Museum encourages children to participate with special prizes for students (under 18).

Entries for the NatureScapes competition will be accepted throughout the month of August. The deadline for submitting entries is 5 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2018.

Download and complete this form for each photo. $15 for the first and $5 each additional. Submissions are not being accepted until August 1st.
