Patrons have an opportunity to trot the globe, musically, during this two-day event. ¡Globalquerque! features live musical performances by touring bands from Colombia, Congo, Tunisia and more. Additional attractions during the event include workshops, a global village and hands-on children’s activities.
These musical groups have confirmed attendance: 47SOUL (Palestine/Jordan); Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore with The Guilty Ones (USA); Natu Camara (Guinea); La Cuneta Son Machín (Nicaragua); Vivalda Dula (Angola); Dat García (Argentina); Garifuna Collective (Belize); Lucibela (Cabo Verde); Carlos Medina (Las Vegas, New Mexico); Mdou Moctar (Niger); Sahba Motallebi (Iran); Pamyua (Inuit/Yup’ik); Le Vent du Nord (Quebec, Canada); and Yandong Grand Singers (China). More artists will be participating.
This year’s festival features three stages of music from five continents over two nights. Like previous events, a staggered stage schedule will allow people to sample the broadest range of performances in unique settings and ambiances from the intimate Fountain Courtyard to the state-of-the-art 691-seat Albuquerque Journal Theatre to the outdoor Plaza Mayor festival concert stage.
The celebration and festival promise to be a cultural destination event for tourists and a major entertainment and community activity for residents of Albuquerque and surrounding areas.
