MOIFA Hosts Virtual Talk with Zack Davisson, Award-Winning Author, Lecturer, and Scholar of Japanese Monsters, Ghosts, and Manga

The Museum of International Folk Art (MOIFA) invites you to a virtual talk with Zack Davissonan award-winning translator, writer, lecturer, and scholar of manga and Japanese folklore. This free event will take place at 2 p.m. MST on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, on Zoom. 

Davisson is the author of Yurei: The Japanese Ghost, Yokai Stories, and The Supernatural Cats of Japan, as well as mythology expert and essayist for the Wayward series, published by Image Comics 

He contributed to the Museum’s publication, “Yokai: Ghosts, Demons, & Monsters of Japan,” with a chapter titled Yokai Evolution: Mizuki Shigeru and Yokai Transformation from Folklore to Pop Culture,” which describes Mizuki’s impact on popularizing Yokaiespecially through the manga character GeGeGe no Kitaro. 

This event is in conjunction with the MOIFA exhibition “Yokai: Ghosts and Demons of Japan.”
