(Santa Fe, New Mexico) - Changes are coming to the New Mexico State Library! The Southwest Room collection is moving to the main library on the second floor. Work will begin Monday, July 2. Once the move is complete, all the collections will be available from a single service point on the second floor. The consolidation of collections will allow library staff to provide convenient, consistent access to all the State Library resources.

The New Mexico State Library collections will be closed to the public beginning Monday, July 2, 2018. The move is expected to take approximately six weeks, with a tentative reopening date of Aug. 20, 2018. There will be no public computers available during this time, and the Southwest collection materials will also be unavailable for most of the period of the move.

Reference services via telephone and email will continue uninterrupted during the move. The public can call 505-476-9700 or 505-476-9790 and email staff at Ask A Librarian (online form) or reference@state.nm.us or sl.southwestroom@state.nm.us. Please don’t hesitate to contact library staff for assistance during the collection closure period!

The Foundation Information Network, as well as the Federal and state document collections will be available by appointment during the move. Please call 505-476-9700 during the closure period to make appointments to use these materials.

InterLibrary Loan services for libraries around the state will also continue uninterrupted.

For library material returns, there is a book drop available in the parking lot.

The Southwest collection move should not affect the hours of the State Archives or the State Historian, or the other State Library services in the building such as the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

Updates about the progress of the move and the reopening date will be available on the New Mexico State Library website: http://www.nmstatelibrary.org.
