Challah Rising in the Desert: The Jews of New Mexico will hold special sneak previews followed by Q & A’s with Director Isaac Artenstein and Producer Paula Amar Schwartz at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science Saturday June 24th at 7PM and on June 25th at 2PM at the New Mexico History Museum at the Palace of Governors in Santa Fe. These special screenings will celebrate participants of this feature documentary and raise funds for the creation of an archive based on over 50 hours of recorded video to be housed with the New Mexico Jewish Historical Society.

Whales compose, bullfrogs chorus, songbirds greet the dawn, and people everywhere sing and dance. Through environmental soundscapes, exhibits, and listening experiences, visitors are invited to explore nature’s score and expand their understanding of what makes music. The exhibition opens on June 24, 2017 and runs through January 7, 2018

Built between April 1916 and November 1917, the Museum of Art is considered an adaption of traditional Hispanic and Pueblo Indian Architecture. The museum design incorporates elements from many historic buildings, most predominantly, the oldest surviving Mission church built in 1629 (pictured above), which still stands at Acoma Pueblo.
As the nation’s oldest capitol city founded in 1610, Santa Fe was already more than 300 years old when New Mexico became a state in 1912. By the early twentieth century, there was a growing concern about construction of new buildings with modern designs that did not fit in with Santa Fe’s predominant Southwestern adobe buildings. In the fall of 1912, concernedcitizens staged the New-Old Santa Fe exhibition at the Palace of the Governors featuring their vision of what Santa Fe architecture could be with images and models.

New Mexicans have a rare opportunity to watch archaeologists on a live dig at the Coronado Historic Site off U.S. 550 in Bernalillo. The Dig Kuaua! hand-excavation of the Kuaua Pueblo will be performed by the Office of Archaeological Studies from May 15 through June 30, 2017. Members of the Friends of Coronado Historic Site group can even participate alongside the archaeologists.

Each Summer Camp session is one week long, with activities every weekday from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
