Bears Ears: The Vision for an Indigenous National Monument
a Zoom lecture with Angelo Baca

Museum of Indian Arts and Culture

Based on a film about Bears Ears, this talk with Angelo Baca (Navajo / Hopi) ties together many different strands of Utah Navajo culture and history, San Juan county politics, Navajo Nation involvement in the region, and anthropological research. It seeks to cover a basic introduction to the importance of the landscape of the Indigenous people by the Indigenous peoples of that region. Of course, it is only a foundation from which to examine a particular perspective - the Indigenous perspective - and it often is not given serious consideration, or left out entirely. The project tells the story through an Indigenous lens.
