“Chocolate: The Exhibition” is nearly ready to open at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS), and we will have a few new treats for you to explore once it does.
What: “Chocolate: The Exhibition,” is a traveling multimedia exhibition that engages the senses and traces the evolution of chocolate from a small, bitter seed found deep in the rainforest to the continent-spanning delicacy it is today. Visitors will be able to learn the biology behind cacao – the tropical seed that chocolate is derived from – while standing under a life-sized cacao tree, explore how cultures throughout history have used chocolate, and much, much more.
The Museum is also thrilled to announce a series of chocolate-themed Family Days during the summer, fall, and winter, featuring family-friendly demonstrations, lectures, and other attractions. Check www.nmnaturalhistory.org for updates on chocolate-centric Family Days!
Additionally, the Museum will host a chocolate-themed Relaxed Night on July 12, featuring lower-stimulation, sensory-friendly activities so that visitors who might get overwhelmed by crowds, sounds and flashing lights can experience the exhibition.
