Join us for a public talk with cartoneria artist Leo Linares and curator Marta Turok.
Leo Linares shares the history of his grandfather Pedro Linares, creator of the popular Alebrije form, in conversation with Marta Turok, curator at the Franz Mayer Museum in Mexico City.

Leo Linares fantastical alebrijes are featured in La Cartoneria Mexicana/ The Mexican Art of Paper and Paste.  He continues his grandfather’s work,  creating alebrijes--mythical or fictional creatures-- for museums, art galleries and  collectors from around the world.

Marta Turok is the Curator and Coodinator for the Ruth D. Lechuga Center for the Study of Folk Art at the Franz Mayer Museum in Mexico city.  She is also a cultural advisor for the Carteoneria exhibit.
