Join Fort Selden Historic Site staff for an outdoor demonstration of campfire* cooking of corned beef and cabbage. This program will highlight outdoor cooking techniques and a history of this unique dish and its relation to Fort Selden Historic Site and New Mexico. The inhabitants, including soldiers who served at the fort during the late 1800s, cooked over a campfire.
*Any active flames or cooking over a live fire is dependent on state and local fire restrictions, as well as expected weather conditions and current wind speeds. Demonstration and ranger interaction is included as part of general admission of $5 per adult. Children 16 years and younger are free. Please call 575-526-8911 for more information.
