Opening of Lowriders, Hoppers and Hot Rods
New Mexico History Museum
May 1, 2016

Be among the first to see our newest exhibit and the kickoff of "Lowrider Summer" in collaboration with the New Mexico Museum of Art. Lowriders, Hoppers, and Hot Rods: Car Culture of Northern New Mexico at the New Mexico History Museum through March 5, 2017, celebrates both these mobile works of art as well as their makers—home-grown Nuevomexicanos who customize, detail, paint and upholster these favorite symbols of Hispanic culture. Opening events include a free photo booth to take a souvenir of the day, screenings of the film, South American Cho Low, and a 2 pm lecture about the history of the nationally renowned Lowrider Magazine by Albuquerque correspondent and photographer Travis Ruiz.

Refreshments courtesy of the Women’s Board of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation. Free with admission, and Sundays are always free to NM residents. Children 16 and under free daily.
