Transfer of the Image and Inauguration of the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Guadalupe, Mexico, ca. 1709, attributed to Manuel Arellano. Courtesy of a private collection.
This painting represents the first multiday dedication ceremony and processional, when the titular image of Guadalupe was carried from her temporary quarters in the Indian Parish church into her new home on April 30, 1709.
