The red tile from three test tiles Patricia Musick created using vitreous enamels on steel in 1980.

Patricia Musick's training as a calligrapher and paleographer of Celtic manuscripts led to the design of an alphabet based on exaggerated characteristics of early Irish manuscript letterforms. These color experiments in enameling--glass fused to metal at high heat--use the R from that alphabet as a constant design element.
