109 East Palace Room

From the New Mexico History Museum

Scientists called to work for the Manhattan Project first reported to 109 East Palace off the Santa Fe Plaza, where they received the first word of what they would be doing in Los Alamos. This gallery in the exhibition Telling New Mexico: Stories from Then and Now tells the story through excerpts from letters, journals and telegrams that speak of the secrecy surrounding participants' lives.
