Banded Navajo blanket, 1875-1885. Gift of Mrs. Alice C.D. Riley. Southwest Museum of the American Indian, Autry National Center; 672.G.10. Captives working in Spanish homes created new weaving styles that combined new materials with indigenous techniques, including Spanish-style banded blankets that were longer than they were wide.
