Thursday, Jan. 1, Closed for New Year’s Day: Happy New Year. Enjoy some time with friends and family, then come see us when we reopen at 10 am on Friday, Jan. 2.

Friday, Jan. 2, 5:30–7 pm, Free First Friday Evening Event: Procrastinators’ Card-Making Workshop: Did you forget to send holiday cards? The Palace Press to the rescue! Use an antique printing press to make a card, then gussy it up with help from fellow crafters. Kids and families welcome. Part of the exhibit Gustave Baumann and Friends: Artist Cards from Holidays Past.

Wednesday, Jan. 14, noon, “Films Made in New Mexico: A History”: Film historian Jeff Berg kicks off the 2015 series of Brainpower and Brownbags Lunch Lectures in the Meem Community Room. Berg is a Santa Fe-based writer, film reviewer and film historian. For the past four years, he has traveled New Mexico narrating clips of movies made in New Mexico. Enter for free through the History Museum’s Washington Avenue doors.

Sunday, Jan. 25, 2 pm, “History and Mystery: Uncovering the Past in Harvey Houses”: What happens when you take on the renovation of a classic Harvey House? All the headaches of any historic-preservation project are joined by the joy of discovering an almost forgotten time. Join Allan Affeldt, Jenny Kimball and Barbara Felix in the museum auditorium for tales of their experiences restoring La Posada, the Castaneda Hotel and La Fonda, part of the exhibit Setting the Standard: The Fred Harvey Company and its Legacy. This event is free with admission; Sundays are free to NM residents.
