International Folk Art Market Program: Musical workshop with Mamadou Kelly
Stop by to spend some intimate time with our visiting musical group from Mali. They’ll perform in a stripped down setting that will highlight their traditional instruments, including the calabash and djourkel. Learn a little more about how these instruments sound and are played as well as some background on the songs. Ask questions and interact with the group.

International Folk Art Market Program: Workshop with Lucho the Clown
Lucho comes to us from Bogota, Colombia. He will demonstrate a variety of clowning techniques and is guaranteed to get the audience involved. Drop in to discover the tools of the clown and with a little help and guidance, to embrace the idiot within and experience laughter as a means of liberation and personal and collective development. Come ready to play, discover, and create using games and other engaging activities.

Sand Mandala Construction by the Mystical Arts of Tibet
Watch Tibetan monks create a large mandala made entirely of sand. Try your hand at the technique in a community sand painting project, on-going throughout the week in the museum’s Atrium. The monks’ five-day residency will also include a puja (ceremony) and presentation on the symbolism of mandalas. Call for specific dates/times for these programs.
