Media Alert: German Tornado jet fighter to move from Holloman Air Force Base tthrough Alamogordo

The New Mexico Museum of Space History has acquired a German Tornado jet fighter and plans to move the vehicle from Holloman Air Force Base thru Alamogordo to the Otero County Fairgrounds on Saturday, January 12. A public event is planned for Sunday, Jan. 13, followed by a sponsor event Jan. 14, with the final move to the museum of Jan. 15.

The aircraft will be towed roughly 16 miles on its landing gear from the flight line at Holloman AFB to the La Luz Gate, along La Luz Road to Hwy 54/70, where it will turn on the highway and move to the Otero County Fairgrounds. It will stay at the Fairgrounds Jan. 12-15, and on Jan. 15 it will make its final journey along Fairgrounds Road and Scenic Drive to the Museum.

The media is invited to attend the move and/or the public event. Because of the logisitics of the move, it will be necessary for attending media to register prior to COB January 10.
