Crafting Memory: The Art of Community in Peru
Edwin Del Pino Huaman, "Tupus" (Shawl Pins), Ayacucho, Peru, 2015. Silver, turquoise. Museum of International Folk Art, IFAF Collection, FA.2015.85.7, 9, 10. Third-generation silversmith, Edwin Del Pino creates ornate shawl pins (or tupus) based on baroque and pre-Columbian deigns. Using the methods of repousse and chasing, he hand-hammers each detail with points and chisels at his workbench.
