Dean Sobel, Director of the Clyfford Still Museum.

Mr. Sobel will discuss the creation of the new Clyfford Still Museum in Denver. Still is known today as one of New York's most important and reclusive painters. After his death in 1980, his estate was sealed, his will specifying that his art be given to "an American city willing to establish a permanent museum dedicated soley to his work." Denver proved to be that city, and Dean Sobel is its inaugural director.

Colonial Day offers an opportunity to step into the past and experience what family life was like in 1700s Santa Fe. Come see the Puppet Playhouse at 11am and 1pm, find Fray Diaz in Tesoros de Devoción, pound on silver, and listen to stories in a recreated village based on historical records of Santa Fe in the 1700's. With the help of local artisans in period dress, families watch, learn, and participate, living for a moment in the past and learning about the hardships and fulfillment of life in colonial New Mexico.
